International Dart Federation (IDF) and African Darts Council Formalize Strategic Partnership to Advance Soft Darts in Africa

The International Dart Federation (IDF), recognized as the world governing body of Soft Darts, Para Soft Darts, Virtual Darts, and e-Darts, and the African Darts Council, the continental federation representing Africa, have officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote and develop soft darts disciplines across the African continent.

The agreement, signed by Mr. Marco Tomasini, CEO and Secretary General of IDF, and Dr. Abdelkader Yehia, President of the African Darts Council, establishes a formal partnership focused on expanding opportunities, improving governance, and coordinating the growth of soft darts, e-darts, virtual darts, and para soft darts.

The African Darts Council is a continental federation representing the African continent's darts community, officially registered as a continental association in Cairo, Egypt, under the leadership of Dr. Abdelkader Yehia, President. The African Darts Council (ADC) is the officially recognized continental governing body for the sport of darts across Africa under the World Darts Federation (WDF) framework. It represents African member countries and coordinates darts development throughout the continent.

The African Darts Council operates as a member confederation under UCSA's umbrella, enabling darts to benefit from the organization's continental governance structure and international legitimacy.

The Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC), also known by its French name Union des Confédérations Sportives Africaines (UCSA), is a pan-African sports organization that serves as a coordinating body for sports confederations and federations across the African continent.

Key highlights of the MOU include:

  • Recognition: The African Darts Council is now an Associate Member of IDF, which is affirmed as the global governing body for all soft darts disciplines within Africa.

  • Development Initiatives: Both parties will collaborate on technical guidance, coach and official education, anti-doping compliance, and the creation and organization of continental competitions.

  • Governance: The partnership reinforces adherence to IDF statutes, international sporting ethics, and best practices for governance and athlete development.

  • Coordination: Regular meetings and clear communication protocols will ensure continuous progress and unified efforts.

  • Commitment: The agreement sets a foundation for the formation and recognition of national soft darts federations across Africa and encourages cooperation with existing WDF member organizations.

The MOU stands as a testament to the shared vision of building a strong, inclusive darts community in Africa and fostering the global development of the sport in alignment with principles of good faith, mutual respect, and sporting ethics.
